Agrupalto: Trabalhar para o sucesso da Agrupalto

PT

Apresente a Agrupalto.

ENG

Introduce Agrupalto.
Agrupalto is the largest organization of agricultural producers, which is exclusively dedicated to the production of pigs.
Agrupalto has grown sustainably, gained it’s place in the agricultural sector and is today a national reference, both in terms of trade and production indexes, which give it the necessary competitiveness to be in international markets.

Are you present in the international market, which are the countries that stand out?
China, without doubt, is the country that stands out most in our trade strategy, but over the next four years we want to consolidate our presence in this country. We have been exporting for almost a year now and we have had a very positive feedback from Chinese customers, which give us the confidence to continue investing and increasingly believing in this business.

What are your ecological concerns?
We have been investing heavily in technology for years. We have pioneered the implementation of precision pig breeding worldwide with the farmcontrol tools.
This way we can monitor all our energy and water costs in real time, optimizing all our units by reducing our ecological footprint.
All our organic effluents are used for agricultural valorization, contributing to the reduction of the use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture.

Agrupalto is one of the largest exporters of pork to China, how can you guarantee the necessary supply?
We sell 1,500,000 pigs a year and are now at an advanced stage in the construction of what will be the largest and most modern slaughtering unit in Portugal. It will be ready in the first half of 2020, ensuring the slaughter of all our production.
Considering environmental terms, the project was also developed to be a reference, focusing on the circular economy with the reuse of the natural resources used.

At the VI Gala Portugal-China, where your company received the business merit award in the foreign trade category, what is the added value of being distinguished in this field?
China is a strategic partner of Portugal, with a trade balance unfavorable to our country and it is essential to take advantage of this market.
After reaching the size needed to be in this market, we began a four-year work in search of the right partners. We have established trusting relationships with key Chinese companies to achieve our export position in this country.
Taking into consideration the award we received in November, and considering our company was the first to export pork to China in January this year, I think this award is well deserved. It is the recognition of the work of a great team that makes us very proud and motivated to continue working, to be better and better at everything we do.

With 2019 ending, what is your assessment of Agrupalto’s activity and what is your outlook for 2020?
It was a fantastic year, with the focus on international markets, we managed to grow by our strength and reaffirmed our leadership in the domestic market. 2020 will be a year of consolidation of this strategy, with the inauguration of our slaughtering unit in Reguengos de Monsaraz. I can’t finish without thanking the trust of all our associates, who trust in this administration, their farms and the sale of their animals, believing and supporting all our projects.
